PETER SALO – an alcoholic ex-hockey player, known as “The Bear Killer” for twice scoring the goals
that helped Finland beat Russia – lives a quiet life in Northern Finland, looking after his younger
Kimmo has the body of a man, but the mind of child. When he begs Peter to take him out ice
fishing one night, it begins a chain of events that will resonate throughout Northern Europe.
As Peter and Kimmo sit quietly fishing, they spot some strange lights in the distance – but when
they go to investigate they find renegade Finnish soldiers digging up the border road and preparing
to bury a nuclear warhead.
The soldiers, under the leadership of the mysterious and ruthless AGENT, have a shoot-to-kill
order – they spot the brothers and gun down Kimmo. Peter manages to escape after a high-speed
car chase across a frozen lake, but is now under the watchful eye of Agent.
Peter escapes to Helsinki to meet with his estranged sister ANNEMARI, who works for Fortnum Oyj,
the national energy company. With Annemari’s inside information they discover that a major
source of natural gas has been discovered close to the Russian border, but renegade elements within
the government are keeping it secret – but before Peter and Annemari can do anything, Agent
attempts to kill Peter by throwing him from a ferryboat.
Peter struggles to shore, and with Agent believing him dead, Peter and Annemari set up a
desperate trap to try and expose the killers and their dangerous conspiracy.
