Mack the Knife – Thriller

When prominent socialite Sherri Maldini is brutally murdered, her husband, nightclub singer and former mob hitman Jimmy Mack, is the prime suspect.

But as Detective Art Webster tries to investigate, his boss pulls him off the case.  Convinced that Jimmy Mack is guilty, Art’s partner, Donnelly, steals the case file, putting both their careers at risk.

As Art digs deeper he uncovers a mob war bubbling beneath the surface of the city, and believes that Sherri’s own father, mob boss Maldini, ordered Mack to make the hit to preserve the fragile peace.

Working against Art is his very nature – he is a serial liar and cheat, his marriage on the verge of collapse.  Jimmy, on the other hand, holds loyalty and honesty as the highest values.  Will Art learn from Jimmy, or will he continue to adopt a win at all costs mentality?

Convinced that Jimmy is the killer, Art finally confronts Mack as he sings at his nightclub, but instead of getting the confession he craves, Art is arrested by his boss for harassing Mack.

Thrown off the force, Art has one last chance – confront Maldini and get him to admit to ordering Mack to make the hit.  If Art can last three minutes in the boxing ring with Maldini, a brutal ex-prize-fighter, Maldini will answer any questions Art has…

"I have worked with Don on three scripts over the past 18 months, and I am looking forward to an ongoing working relationship.

Creatively, he is highly imaginative, capable of utilising both his own ideas and incorporating those of others to their maximum potential. Don is very hard-working - he works fast, but cares - which means that it becomes very energising for those he works with.

Tough deadlines are a challenge rather than a problem, so if time is of the essence, Don is the ideal person to have on your team."

Don is by far the fastest scribe I've had the pleasure of working with. In fact, I am puzzled by how high the quality is; you would think it would suffer accordingly.

Don is always just an email away, and didn't hesitate to open up his phone lines despite us being in two different countries. Note that he insisted on picking up the bill every time, which I thought was class.

Don's educational background, with a Masters in Screenwriting, plus his global travels and experiences, all come through and result in rich, pointed prose. Highly recommended.
